CANDLE CARE TIPS: HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CANDLE

When I hand pour Sweet U candles, my mission is to help you experience love, joy, and peace while healing, empowering, and inspiring yourself and others around you. I am suggesting some tips that will help you get the maximum benefit from your candles, which are made of pure soy wax. It is very important to follow the safety instructions, which can be found at the bottom of every Sweet U candle.

  1. When lighting for the first time, burn until wax melts across the entire surface of the vessel. This prevents tunneling and ensures an even burn for the duration of your candle’s life.

  2. Trim the wick to 1/4th of an inch after each burn using a pair of scissors or a wick trimmer or a fingernail clipper or just your fingertips. This maximizes the life and fragrance of your candle and will prevent large flames, smoking, and soot on the walls of the jar.

  3. You must burn your candle for 3 to 4 hours-not more or not less. The scent is released from the molten wax pool, so it is important to maintain an optimum amount of molten wax pool.

  4. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, half-burnt matches, and other debris at all times.

  5. Keep the lit candle in your sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended or lit while sleeping.

  6. The best place to burn a candle is on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from children, pets, windows or drafts, and flammable materials.

  7. To maximize the scent of the Sweet U candle, keep the lit candle in the desired space for 30 minutes with all the windows closed.

  8. If you are lighting multiple candles at a time, be sure to keep them several inches apart. If you place them close together, they may cause each other to heat up and melt.

  9. Use a long match or long lighter to light your candles to avoid burning your fingertips.

  10. Extinguish the candle by gently blowing the flame without splattering the molten wax, by using a “candle snuffer”, or by dipping the wick in the melted wax using a tool called a wick dipper or any other heat-resistant tool, and then immediately straighten it up before it dries up.

  11. Do not use water to extinguish a candle, as this can cause the hot wax to splatter and could break a glass container. Here is my video on how to properly extinguish a candle.

  12. When a candle is burning properly its flame will be upright without flickering or smoking. If the flame is too high or there is smoke, extinguish the flame and let the candle cool. Then trim the wick and light it again.

  13. Stop using the candle when there is 10mm or less wax remaining in the bottom of the jar. This is because the flame needs a solid base of wax to prevent overheating the jar.

  14. Always store your Sweet U candles in a cool, dark, and dry place. Avoid exposing them to direct sunlight or harsh indoor lighting, such as spotlights. Remove dust and fingerprints from the Sweet U candle by gently rubbing the surface with a piece of nylon or a soft cloth.
